Professor Kenneth (Ken) Pye is the Director of Kenneth Pye Associates Ltd (KPAL). Between 1983 and 2004 he held full-time academic positions at Cambridge, Reading and Royal Holloway (London) Universities. He has also held Visiting Professorships at Royal Holloway and the University of Southampton. Ken is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and a member of numerous professional and conservation organizations including the Coastal Education and Research Foundation, The National Trust, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. Ken has more than 38 years of postdoctoral research, consultancy and expert witness experience relating to coastal, estuarine and shallow marine geomorphology and sedimentology. Professional applications of his work include coastal infrastructure developments, shoreline management and nature conservation. He has undertaken studies at numerous locations in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and overseas. He has also provided consultancy advice to a wide range of organizations including DEFRA, The Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, RSPB, CEFAS, The National Trust, MOD, Local Authorities and several Estuary Partnerships.
