GRADISTAT

GRADISTAT is our very popular in-house particle size analysis software. The programme runs in Microsoft Excel, and is suitable for calculating particle size statistics for sieve or laser granulometer data. Full instructions are included.

The software was written by Simon Blott and published as part of the following journal article:

Blott, S.J. and Pye, K. (2001) GRADISTAT: a grain size distribution and statistics package for the analysis of unconsolidated sediments. Earth Surface Processes and Landforms 26, 1237-1248. (view abstract)

The original version of the software was written for Microsoft Excel 1997 and 2000, and can be downloaded from the ESPL website here.

An updated version 8.0 was released in December 2010 and is suitable for use with Microsoft Excel versions up to 2010:

Version 8.0 for Excel versions 2000-2003 (.xls)

Version 9.1 for Excel versions 2007-2013 and Microsoft 365 (.xlsm)

A fully revised version (GRADISTAT-PRO) with greater functionality is currently under development.
